Hydrogen controlled ("low hydrogen") E7016 series stick welding electrodes with a special Twin Flux Coating for superior arc stability - in Foil-Sealed 2KG Vacuum Packs. Commonly used for mild or high strength steel, where the joint requires higher strength than regular "GP" electrodes, such as highly restrained joints or components subject to higher load stress. Also used as a buffer layer prior to hard facing. 16XT welding rods are All-Positional (except for vertical down), easy striking & smooth running, with low spatter & easy slag removal. Available in 2.5mm, 3.2mm & 4.0mm. AWS A5.1 E7016 H8 & AS/NZS 4855: B E4916 A U H10 classifications.
- 3.2mm x 350mm - 2kg Vacuum Sealed Pack
WHY CHOOSE WELDCLASS 16XT ELECTRODES ?
> User Friendly: Very Smooth & Stable Arc, Easy Striking, Low Spatter, Easy Slag Removal
> Hydrogen controlled, for welding mild & high-strength (carbon-manganese) steels up to 510MPa
> All-Positional (except for vertical down) & excellent weld appearance
2KG VACUUM FOIL SEALED PACKS - REDUCES WASTE & MOISTURE EXPOSURE !
> Vacuum foil sealed packs keeps moisture out, right up to the point of use
> Smaller pack size reduces waste & minimises exposure to atmospheric moisture
WHY IS IT IMPORANT TO AVOID MOISTURE ?
> Air contains moisture (humidity) and any electrode exposed to air will absorb moisture
> This inceases hydrogen levels in the electrode (water 'H2O' contains hydrogen 'H')
> Increased hydrogen compromises the strength & mechanical properties of the weld
> Moisture can also negatively affect the arc characteristics of the electrode

FAQs
> Q: Does the vacuum foil seal avoid the need for pre-drying electrodes in an oven?
A: This depends on the application. At the point of opening a sealed pack, 16XT electrodes will almost certainly contain less moisture than electrodes that are not vacuum sealed - however electrodes ovens should still be used in critical situations or when specified in the weld procedure.
> Q: How many rods per pack/KG ?
2.6mm = approx. 50 rods per KG / 100 rods per 2kg pkt
3.2mm = approx. 33 rods per KG / 66 rods per 2kg pkt
